We are looking for a local or organisation that would reap all the benefits of having its own greenhouse on-site for its community to enjoy. To find the perfect partner, we are launching a competition to win a greenhouse worth around £80,000.
We are passionate about creating spaces that can help both plants and people to thrive, and would love to enable more people to enjoy the host of well documented physical and mental health benefits associated with gardening and being in nature. As such, we are on the hunt for a great home – be it a charity, a hospice, a care home or a school – for our Messenger glasshouse, that has been a much-loved part of our show site for almost 10 years. To be in with a chance of winning, the organisation must be within an hour of Alitex HQ at Torberry Farm, Petersfield.
We see this as the start of an ongoing relationship with the lucky winner, so will be on hand to offer growing workshops to demonstrate how to grow under glass and set their gardening journey off on the best possible foot.
Our Brand Director, Nelly Hall, comments: “We are making some changes at Torberry Farm and, rather than see our beloved greenhouse that’s in perfect condition go to waste, we’d love the opportunity to donate it to a worthy local cause. A greenhouse allows people to enjoy the life-enhancing benefits of gardening and growing all year round, and we would love to find a local institution that can genuinely see a way of using the structure to help improve lives within their community and enable people to thrive”.
As a committed advocate of reducing, reusing and recycling, this as an opportunity for the greenhouse to enjoy a second life. Made from durable, powder-coated aluminium, the structure is designed to stand the test of time. Designed in a timeless Victorian style, the greenhouse measures 6.6m x 3.3m and is complete with internal traditional benching, high level shelving, reservoir and pump and external cold frames.
The competition is open until 29th of October 2021. Then, all entries will be reviewed by a judging panel and five will be shortlisted. The Alitex team will also be able to nominate a further two charities, before the general public are able to cast their votes for a deserving winner via social media and email.
