There’s something rather special about those first proper spring days, when the greenhouse doors are open again, and everything begins to feel full of possibility. Our Spring Garden Pop-Up was exactly that; a relaxed, inspiring way to ease into the growing season.

We were delighted to welcome such a thoughtful group of speakers. Ed and Laura Boers from Fibrex Nurseries led The Spring Refresh, which turned into a wonderfully hands-on session. Guests rolled up their sleeves to learn exactly how to cut back, take cuttings, and care for their pelargoniums, and even took their own cuttings home to grow on. It’s very much pelargonium chopping time, so consider this your gentle nudge to give your own plants a tidy.

Helier Bowling spoke beautifully about creating a cutting garden, sharing what to sow now and how to plan for a steady supply of flowers through the summer. And Rachel Gibson from Young at Heart Heathfield offered a genuinely inspiring look at their intergenerational gardening project, a reminder that gardens can bring people together in the best possible way.

Alongside the talks, a carefully curated selection of stalls added to the day, including Claverton Cloches, The Wild Fencing Company, Chapel Street Vintage, Gaze Burvill, Arthur Jack, and Oli Carter. It made for a lovely balance with a chance to learn, wander, and discover something new.
Overall, the event offered a thoroughly enjoyable and well-balanced start to the season. The positive feedback reflects this, with many noting the inspiring atmosphere and practical value of the day.

For those interested in attending future events, we recommend keeping an eye on the Alitex website and social channels, where upcoming dates and details will be announced. Our Grow Club group on Facebook also offers a space to continue the conversation, a place to share experiences, exchange advice, and follow the season as it unfolds.
A considered and encouraging beginning to the gardening season.
