One of the joys of Chelsea is working with new collaborators on the stand each year, they really help add the all important details to our stand, and this year we are so excited to welcome Bert & May. If you haven’t heard of them, they make the most beautiful range of handmade tiles and are about to launch their Greenhouse collection, so it is a perfect partnership!
Our National Trust Hidcote will show how you can use a greenhouse, completely off-grid, to sow and grow your own produce. Not complete self-sufficiency but enough to reduce food miles and enjoy the pleasure of picking your own food throughout the year. Within this Bert & May will be showcasing their new collection inspired by nature and utilising 3 different tiles from the range.
We were keen to ask Ruth Weber, Creative Director, a few questions…
What are you most looking forward to at Chelsea this year?
We are always excited to see what innovations designers come up with and are particularly looking forward to seeing how colour has been used as this is always very inspiring.
What was the inspiration for this collection?
Initially inspired by nature and exploring a new colour direction, with rich, deep dark grey-greens, we have built up a capsule collection of patterns and natural green shades, and where better to showcase this than in a collaboration with Alitex at the iconic Chelsea Flower Show.
Describe Bert & May in three words.
Craft. Design. Characterful.
Apart from a greenhouse, where else would these tiles be at home?
Our tiles are really versatile, they work really well in indoor/outdoor areas as well as in hallways or kitchens.
What else can we look forward to from Bert & May x Alitex.
We’d love to grow the collection, there is so much creative inspiration to come from both brands.
If you had an Alitex greenhouse – what would the first thing you’d do – throw a dinner party or grow some tomatoes?
A tough one!! Both; first grow the tomatoes and then host a dinner party with a Bloody Mary cocktail to start!
Make sure to come along to stand MA336 to see us and Bert & May’s new collection.
