National Trust Collection
After owning a Scotney greenhouse for almost a year, our clients, a couple in West Sussex, held an open garden event for charity. One a volunteer of the charity, and a cause close to their hearts.
When Alitex adverts kept popping up in magazines they were buying and the greenhouses were displayed at shows they visited, they knew the glasshouse had to be an Alitex. Our customers decided on the Scotney greenhouse from our National Trust Collection, they felt the size and style would be the perfect addition to their garden.
The greenhouse is partitioned, with a Yew Hedge, from the rest of the garden; it is settled into a secluded vegetable patch that creates a peaceful working space when tending plants. The Scotney is powder-coated in Downland Stone, a shade of cream that lightens the area and naturally blends in.
By choosing Alitex our customers knew they were getting the best growing environment. This has already been proved for them with the Sweet Peas growing in time for the open garden, the tomato plants producing hundreds of fruit to pick and the cucumbers growing better than before. Even the exotic orchids are surviving that they previously had difficulty keeping alive.
The greenhouse has helped add life to the garden. It has created a therapeutic and tranquil escape to relax in, almost like a “natural cottage made for plants”.
After several friends and co-volunteers said how much they love the greenhouse, the couple decided to host an Open Garden event to raise money for ‘The Springboard Project‘, a charity close to their family. ‘The Springboard project is community based charity providing inclusive play, leisure opportunities and short breaks for families with disabled children and teenagers.’
The couple self-promoted the event, gaining interest from locals, friends and family. The afternoon was relaxed, refreshments were provided and entertainment included an auction for a signed book donated by a best-selling local author. The couple are pleased to announce the event a success, they raised a total of £2,077.10 for the charity.
We’re pleased that the greenhouse not only helps keep plants healthy but has also helped the charity with raising funds to help keep up their hard work.
