Cold Frames

Depth 923mm, Length to suit Greenhouse

from £1,160 per linear metre*

Our cold frames enhance the effectiveness of your greenhouse growing by providing an additional cold-protected environment, creating ideal conditions for hardening off. They can also be used for starting early salad crops and over-wintering delicate shrubs.

Constructed in robust aluminium sections, the frames and handles are powder coated to match your greenhouse. Typically the cold frames are 0.9m deep and can be built to any length, generally in spans of 1 metre, and can be attached to your greenhouse base or freestanding.

Our cold frames have an internal set of runners offering you three opening positions that allow you to maximise the environment you want to create. To operate, you simply lift the handle and guide into the desired level.

Cold Frame Vents

We can also install sliding vents at the back of your cold frames in your greenhouse brickwork, to facilitate further control of the air temperature. Please be aware that this must be accounted for when the base is being built.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to have Cold Frames?
Not at all, like all of our accessories they are optional. You may chose to have them to harden off your seedlings in early spring, or over winter your plants during the colder months.

Is it one size fits all?
No, we will work with you to understand your growing needs and where your cold frames will be best on your greenhouse.

Where can they sit on my greenhouse?
You may choose to have cold frames on one or either side of your doorway or porch. Alternatively, they can sit along a gable end, across the rear wall or be totally freestanding.

Can they be fitted to my greenhouse retrospectively?
Unfortunately the cold frames cannot be fitted to your greenhouse retrospectively, as they need to be accounted for in the build of your base. However we can build free standing cold frames at any time.
