Once again, Alitex returned to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2025 and it most certainly did not disappoint. Chelsea Flower Show 2025 was, as ever, an iconic celebration of horticulture, design and craftsmanship at its finest. It’s a week that we at Alitex look forward to with anticipation and excitement and this year was no exception. From the initial groundwork to show week itself, Chelsea continues to be a highlight of our calendar and a showcase of everything we’re passionate about.
Building the Foundation: A True Team Effort
The magic of The Chelsea Flower Show begins long before the gates open to the public. The first stage of the build is a meticulously planned operation, and it starts with a completely blank canvas, a flat piece of ground that is gradually transformed into something remarkable. The groundwork and construction process takes around a week and is led with precision by our very own Hewdog, alongside trusted builder John Deacon.
The team began by laying the all-important foundations and constructing the brick base for our Thomas Messenger greenhouse. Alongside this, they also prepared the ground for the aluminium Wainscot base for the Mottisfont greenhouse. Fence posts were set, paving was carefully laid and the stand slowly began to take shape.
Once the foundations were ready, our skilled installers arrived on site to piece together our beautiful greenhouses. The classic Thomas Messenger lean-to was carefully constructed on top of its brick base, exuding timeless elegance. Meanwhile, the Mottisfont greenhouse was built on the sleek aluminium Wainscot base, ready to be transformed into a sensory sanctuary.

Planting with Purpose: Creating an Immersive Display
Once the structures were in place, the next stage could begin; the planting and dressing of the stand, which brought everything to life. This year, we were delighted to work with some wonderful collaborators and plant specialists. Our planting included vibrant selections from Form Plants and an exquisite array of pelargoniums from Fibrex Nurseries, each one adding scent, structure and colour to the overall design.
We also had the pleasure of partnering with the team at C.Atherley, who took the lead in dressing our Mottisfont greenhouse. Their team created a scented, immersive greenhouse space filled with beautifully arranged pelargoniums and their range of geranium scented products. This floral styling was further enhanced by the involvement of Jo Fairley, founder of The Perfume Society, who played a key role in connecting our owner, Nelly Hall, with Ed from Fibrex and Cath Kidston of C.Atherley; a collaboration that blossomed wonderfully.
Leading the charge on planting and stand styling were our events manager Izzy and Nelly herself, joined by our dedicated show site gardener, Eddie, and several brilliant helpers from across the Alitex team. Together, they crafted a whimsical, storybook-inspired tradestand featuring standout varieties of plants like Lupin ‘Masterpiece’, Allium ‘Silver Spring’, Cornus kousa ‘China Girl’, and Nectaroscordum siculum. The result was nothing short of enchanting.

The Stand in Full Bloom
When everything came together, the finished stand exceeded even our own expectations. The Mottisfont greenhouse was an eye-catching, aromatic highlight, with pelargoniums spilling out in hues of purple, orange and white. The Thomas Messenger greenhouse, with its traditional lean-to form, showcased timeless design and impeccable craftsmanship.
The planting around the stand brought richness and colour, giving the whole display the feel of an English country garden straight from the pages of a classic novel. Visitors to the stand, both new faces and returning customers – commented time and again on the warmth, charm, and imagination of the space. It truly captured the spirit of Alitex and the beauty of greenhouse living.

Show Week: A Celebration of Community and Craft
When show week finally arrived, all the hard work paid off. We were thrilled to welcome so many visitors to the stand and engage in conversations about gardening, greenhouse growing, and the joy these passions bring. There’s a special kind of camaraderie during Chelsea Flower Show week; early mornings, many cups of coffee, teamwork, many cinnamon buns, plenty of greenhouse talk, and lots of laughter.
Our collaborations with C.Atherley and Fibrex brought a wonderful sense of community to the stand. We were incredibly honoured to be awarded a 5-star Trade Stand award, a testament to the effort, creativity and teamwork that made it all happen. Chelsea is our favourite week of the year and this year proved once again why that’s the case.

The Breakdown: A Bittersweet Farewell
Sadly, all good things must come to an end and once the final visitor leaves, the breakdown begins almost immediately. This year, we took part in selling of our plants on the stand – a frenzied but fun ritual where, as soon as the official countdown ends, visitors scramble to claim the plants they’ve admired all week.
Our team, led once more by Hewdog, began packing down the stand with energy and good humour. Trolleys were loaded with plants and props, all heading back to Alitex HQ. The greenhouse installers returned to dismantle the greenhouses and the building works team removed the foundations, carefully restoring the site to its original flat surface, ready for next year’s Chelsea Flower Show transformation.

Until Next Year…
And just like that, Chelsea is behind us for another year. Even our marketing office is back in order, with every trace of The Chelsea Flower Show neatly packed away. Yet the memories remain; of beautiful greenhouses, joyful conversations, and shared moments with fellow garden lovers.
The Chelsea Flower Show reminds us why we do what we do. Seeing the joy our greenhouses bring to visitors’ faces, hearing stories of growing journeys, and sharing our love of craftsmanship makes it all worthwhile. Whether you’re a long-time Alitex customer or someone we met for the first time this year – thank you. If our presence at Chelsea has sparked your interest in greenhouse living, we’d love to continue the conversation. Request a brochure, book a sales visit, visit us at our show site or simply give us a call
Until next year, Chelsea, thank you for another magical experience.
