First things first, we cannot undertake restoration of existing timber structures. We specialise exclusively in the design, manufacture and installation of aluminium greenhouses. We do not undertake projects where original timber components of the greenhouse are to be retained, as this would compromise the structural integrity of our greenhouses.
Should the greenhouse be beyond repair, our recommendation is to replace it, like for like, with a low maintenance aluminium structure. We have done this many times and have undertaken such projects in some very sensitive locations where it has been necessary to obtain planning permission and listed consent.
Sympathetic replacement of old timber glasshouses with aluminium, when done well, brings new glory to beautiful structures, especially since we can replace them exactly.
Our Victorian style Messenger greenhouse was created by working closely with a private estate which was spending vast sums every year on the maintenance and repair of old timber-framed greenhouses.
The Messenger design replicates the appearance of timber and satisfies sensitive planning conditions, yet crucially eliminates costly maintenance issues.
These projects are often very lengthy as they combine a ruthless pursuit of perfection and painstaking reference to original garden plans to make sure the end result is consistent with the former glory of the garden.
We have replaced large lean-to greenhouses, pit houses and cherry houses in a variety of projects, many of which are open to the public.
You can see examples of our work throughout the UK from Cowdray Park in West Sussex and Haddon Lake House on the Isle of Wight, to Staunton Country Park in Hampshire and Normanby Hall in North Lincolnshire.
