Project Overview
A celebration of scent and style: the Mottisfont Wainscot greenhouse at Chelsea 2025
At the Chelsea Flower Show 2025, our Mottisfont greenhouse from the National Trust Collection brought a fresh sensory experience to our 63rd consecutive exhibit. Nestled at stand MA336, this elegantly proportioned greenhouse was showcased on our newly launched Wainscot aluminium base.
The greenhouse reimagined
With its flat-fronted lobby, the Mottisfont greenhouse is a popular choice for seasonal growers. It offers a flexible, practical space for cultivation while also serving as a striking feature in any garden. The Chelsea Mottisfont was powder coated in a soft yet sophisticated ‘Greensand’ textured finish.
The Mottisfont sat on our Wainscot aluminium base; a new alternative to traditional brick or stone. Designed for quicker installation and requiring minimal on-site groundwork, the Wainscot offers all the strength and charm of a traditional structure, while allowing for a more seamless setup. It’s an ideal solution for customers seeking heritage style with modern efficiency.
A multisensory masterpiece
This year, the Mottisfont greenhouse was transformed into a fragrant sanctuary of pelargoniums, styled in collaboration with the team at C.Atherley. Known for their geranium-inspired luxury products, their expert eye brought the greenhouse to life as an immersive scented experience, a true ‘Pelly shrine’. The greenhouse was filled with exquisite blooms from the renowned Fibrex Nurseries, echoing the nostalgic joy of summer greenhouses past.
The creative spark behind the display was lit by Jo Fairley, founder of The Perfume Society, who connected our own Nelly Hall with Ed from Fibrex and Cath Kidston of C.Atherley – a partnership that flourished into one of the most talked-about exhibits on Main Avenue. Together, they curated a space that was not only visually beautiful but emotionally evocative, a place where scent, story, and style intertwined.
Heritage detail, contemporary performance
Inside, traditional benching and A-frame spandrels added structure and growing potential, while spike finials and classic cresting lent an authentic touch to the overall silhouette. The result was a greenhouse that felt timeless yet fresh, traditional yet relevant – just like the pelargoniums themselves.
The Mottisfont is more than aesthetically beautiful. It’s a practical, productive greenhouse built for real gardeners and thanks to the Wainscot base, it’s now even more accessible for those seeking high-quality installation with minimal disruption.
The Mottisfont on tour
Following its debut at Chelsea and appearance at Hampton Court, this particular ‘Greensand’ Mottisfont greenhouse on our new Wainscot aluminium base, has become our dedicated show model. It now travels with us to events throughout the year, offering visitors the chance to experience it first hand at shows across the country.
If you’d like to see a Mottisfont greenhouse on a Wainscot base between shows, a ‘Bronze Manganese’ version is available to view at our South Downs show site. The Wainscot base is now available on a number of our greenhouse models.
