The large greenhouse at THE PIG-on the Beach is at the very heart of an idyllic kitchen garden.

Project Overview
We worked closely with the team at THE PIG-on the beach to ensure the greenhouse was located in a natural setting within the garden. Attached to the wall at each gable end, the structure is an integral feature of the garden. It is used by the Kitchen Garden team in producing crops for their home-grown menu, as well as a popular spot for guests to look around during their stay.
Powder coated in Sussex Emerald, the greenhouse is the perfect soft light green, sitting comfortably amidst the greenery of the crops growing out in the garden.
The Kitchen Garden is at the heart of the hotel, with THE PIG’s “plot-to-plate” ethos, and the Alitex greenhouse is a key feature. Internal partitions create several zones, creating varied growing environments. Most of the restaurants’ plants grow in the central section.
The team utilise the greenhouse to get the seedlings growing, and then harden them off in the Cold Frames ready to be planted out into the garden.
The result is a fully-functioning greenhouse being used to propagate and grow many of the ingredients you see on THE PIG menu today.
THE PIG has found the structure to be an asset to their kitchen garden and therefore have now extended their collection with additional greenhouses across their litter. You can find Alitex greenhouses at in THE PIG-in the forest, THE PIG-at Harlyn Bay, THE PIG-near Bath and THE PIG-at Bridge Place. You can view their testimonial and video tour here.
