When it came to rebuilding the Alpine House at RHS Wisley gardens, Director of Horticulture, Jim Gardiner, felt that an Alitex greenhouse would be the perfect replacement for their existing timber structure.

Project Overview
The freestanding, traditional Alitex greenhouse that can be found at RHS Wisley, is approachable by a steep set of stairs that wends its way through rockeries and trailing plants. Jim had specific requirements that our design team worked into the final design; a special width door which replicated the old timber door exactly was needed in order to keep the traditional charm. We also added manual working roof vents, as the existing rack and pinion operated by chain wheels, worked well for this type of greenhouse.
The effort is rewarded by a beautiful display of alpine plants in the Alitex greenhouse. Cara Smith, leader of the Alpine House team, said: “We reserve the very best plants at the height of their fabulousness for the Alitex greenhouse.”
