The World of Trees - Suffolk Agricultural Gardeners Conference on Thursday 7 November

Tony Kirkham,Head of Arboretum and Horticultural Services at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew

With the weather we have just experienced, trees are very much top of conversation. The Suffolk Agricultural Associations 2013 gardening conference on Thursday 7th November is aptly titled ‘The World of Trees’.

This is an unmissable event with distinguished speakers of international standing. This conference will appeal to everyone who loves trees, has marvelled at their power and majestic stature; has planted, pruned or treasured trees in their infinite variety. The thoughtful use of trees in the garden and landscape touches the lives of us all at some time, or - for so many of us, all the time. The varied selection of topics should ensure an educational day with practical ideas laced with the anecdotes of long experience.

The line up for the day is more than impressive – with talks from...

‘Trees in the Landscape’ – Hugh Johnson, Renowned arboriculturist, gardener, wine guru and prolific author

'Trees at Kew – Keeping Kew at the forefront of Botanic Gardens’ – Tony Kirkham Head of Arboretum and Horticultural Services at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew

‘A Wild Goose Chase to Tibet’ – Mr Carol Gurney, Carol is well travelled and a lifelong ‘tree enthusiast’

‘Garden Trees – Old and New’ – Roy Lancaster, a lifelong plantsman who has travelled the world in search of trees and other plants in their native habitats in order to understand their requirements in cultivation

Here at Alitex we are proud sponsors of The Suffolk Agricultural Associations Gardening Conference. John and Claire will be waving the Alitex flag during the day with an Alitex display – pop by to say hello or if you have a project in mind John is the man to speak to.  What he does not know about greenhouses frankly isn’t worth knowing!
