Our association with RHS Wisley dates back many years – in fact the Chrysanthemum House which housed the National Collection was supplied by Alitex and then eight years ago The Alpine House was added. (Gardeners World did a feature in here in the cold, wet Spring of 2013).
The joy for Alitex in getting involved this year with the RHS Wisley Flower Show is that it will be our third RHS show this year, but probably the one which logistically will cause us the least trouble – given that it is an hour up the A3 from Petersfield.
This will be the first RHS show we have attended where we haven’t been on site for weeks leading up to the date building our trade “show”, garden. For Wisley we will be bringing our trusty mobile Hidcote greenhouse from the National Trust Collection – trusty because this year it has had a number of outings, including Woburn Abbey Flower Show, and has looked great at each event. Visitors always do a double take when they realise the greenhouse is actually mounted onto a trailer (deceptively) then any give-away elements are covered in a swathe of plants and flowers. (Image shows mobile Hidcote at the recent David Harber Open Day).
We will drive the Hidcote to Wisley on the Monday morning of show-week allowing plenty of time to style it and make it “show-ready”, on the Tuesday. By Wednesday you’ll think our greenhouse has been there forever (hopefully!) providing a range of Alitex structures to be viewed around the gardens. Early September is a great time to be visiting the gardens at Wisley – the colours are amazing.
The Alitex team will be on hand to discuss your project or to simply answer any questions you may have – do pop along and say hello whichever day you plan to visit and come and see how we got on.

For a full day out why not tag on a visit toThe Walled Gardens at Cowdray, Midhurst, where we are having our Annual Lecture on Wednesday 4th September.
