Your Greenhouse Project

We have worked with curators and gardeners from the National Trust to bring you eight beautiful greenhouses, designed to reflect the aesthetic qualities and features found in their heritage sites.

The Collection

The National Trust Collection is made up of eight freestanding greenhouses that stand the test of time. The collection starts with the Hidcote sized 2.6m x 3m, right up to the impressive Ickworth at 2.9m x 7.1m and also includes six heritage inspired colours. You can view the collection here.

Our Partnership

The National Trust charity, founded in 1895 with the aim of preserving the nation's heritage of beautiful buildings and green spaces, is completely independent of government funding. It relies heavily on income generated by memberships, donations, legacies and revenue raised from their commercial operations. The National Trust has worked with various businesses to develop products that reflect the inspiring historic land and buildings it protects.

In 2004 we were approached by the National Trust to create practical, accessible and low-maintenance greenhouses. We have over 60 years of experience in designing and building greenhouses for Grade I listed properties and English heritage sites, so we instinctively understood what the National Trust wanted to achieve.

The Alitex National Trust Greenhouse Collection showcases some of the finest British heritage products for your garden. For each one of our eight designs sold, we make a contribution to the National Trust, raising the much-needed funds that go towards the wonderful restoration and conservation work they do.

You can view the Hidcote National Trust Greenhouse at Hidcote Manor Gardens Plant Centre. Alitex has also built traditional aluminium greenhouses at several National Trust sites; including Sizergh Castle, Standen House, The Vyne and Peckover House.

Your Project

To achieve a complete understanding of your unique surroundings, it is essential for a member of our design team to visit you at home. They will be able to advise you on the best structure and design to fit with you, your garden and your growing requirements.

Choosing Your Greenhouse Colour

Our experts are here to work with you to make sure that your greenhouse colour is perfect for the environment you want to create. We have years of experience in understanding colour matches and how they can enhance the final product, whether you're starting from scratch or trying to colour match from your home or garden.

We also have six colours inspired by fauna and flora, exclusively chosen with the National Trust in mind.

Building Works

Our aluminium greenhouses are designed and manufactured with exceptional precision and skill to ensure that the highest quality standard is always met. We recommend the very best foundations are laid to enhance your greenhouse life and garden aesthetics.

Due to such precise engineering, there is very little tolerance when it comes to building the greenhouse base. All of our structures at Alitex are created with a tolerance of plus or minus 5mm and only plus 5mm for the doorway.

As many of our customers prefer to have a one point of contact for all aspects of their project, we offer a building works service. You can read more details about the service here.

If you have a builder you would prefer to use, we would provide you and them with detailed drawings and building notes to ensure the base is constructed to the correct specification.
