The Hidcote Greenhouse for an Arts & Crafts House

21 October 2020 | Daisy Faughnan

Our client saw Alitex in the Walled Garden Cowdray Estate, and then again at the Country Brocante Fair. She fell in love with the greenhouse and felt the structure evoked the traditional gardens beautifully.

Having moved to Midhurst in 2016, into an Arts and Crafts House built in 1903, our client became obsessed with gardening and longed for a greenhouse. Whilst being aesthetically beautiful and practical, she wanted a structure that would complement the house and garden.

After contacting Alitex, she visited our show site in South Harting. As an avid supporter of local and independent businesses, and hearing the history of the family business, she knew it felt right. The attention to detail and quality of the greenhouses was a real highlight. Our client decided on the National Trust Hidcote painted in Wood Sage to match the existing window frames and doors of the house.

“My greenhouse was completed in July 2019 and I haven’t looked back since! I have had a beautiful chandelier fitted that I saw in ‘The Place on West Street’ – a wonderful antique shop full of treasures.I found a delightful white table from Haus in Haslemere and I added two chairs. I’ve had an amazing year growing, planting, reading and just being in my greenhouse. It’s ‘good for the soul’!
To sum it up in one sentence, it brings me joy. The service, the quality and the ethos of Alitex fits perfectly into my simple but unique life that is Midhurst.”

“We’re thoroughly enjoying our Alitex Greenhouse – I never knew that growing my own plants, flowers and salads could be this much fun.”
