We are really looking forward to an event right on our doorstep at the National Trust’s Woolbeding, with head gardener Paul Gallivan.
Towards the end of last year we added an Alitex greenhouse to what is already an attention grabbing garden. I went on an herbaceous gardening course there with Fiona from our design studio last September and we were both wow-ed by the gardens, their design and their appearance.
Paul and his team (including Jo, previously of the NT's Uppark and Pip) achieve amazing things at Woolbeding, many of which I have tried to replicate in my own garden. The sculpture is also worthy of mention – take a look at their website to whet the appetite further. Click here.
Much of the charm of the garden is that it is still very much a private garden with scheduled opening times, allowing the visitor to experience the tranquil oasis it is meant to be.
They are also without a car park so our timetable will be as follows:
9.45am – Meet in the Grange Carpark, Midhurst, where a mini bus will take us all off to nearby Woolbeding. Click here for directions.
On arrival, teas and coffees will be served before we begin our escorted tour of the gardens which will take approximately 1 hour.
Thereafter you are free to enjoy the gardens at your leisure. The regular mini-bus from Woolbeding leaves at pre-scheduled times so you can get back to the car park. Remember to get a ticket for the car park – the first 2 hours are free, but you will need more time than that.
Please contact us to book your place - numbers are limited and pre-booking is essential.
