Clients brief
To utilise and maximise the space available to create a kitchen extension.
Constraints
The need to work closely with local Sussex planning officers as the building is a listed Georgian cottage while considering and calculating U-values to satisfy building control.
Design Considerations
Alitex needed to design the removal of a chimney and the relocation of an oil tank. The construction elements of this project allowed the introduction of higher performance insulation to the supporting walls.
Final design
The final design was complemented by a 100% glazed hipped roof to maximise light ingress.
Alitex involvement
Alitex took full responsibility for the supply and installation of the aluminium and glass content of the project, supplying structural calculations and U-vales to a local architect who was responsible for the project management.
