It's May, and in the world of horticulture, this can mean only one thing; RHS Chelsea Flower Show! We are only four days away from arriving on site to begin the building works and hard landscaping. From there, we have three weeks to complete the stand, install the greenhouses, furnish the interiors, plant up the beds and add the finishing flourishes.
This year, the garden space has been designed by RHS Young Garden Designer of the Year 2017 finalist, Jake Curley; an exciting collaboration celebrating emerging talent. Jake's stylish courtyard garden will celebrate the plants of the season, complemented by a subtle interior colour palette of teal, soft greens and pinks. Drawing from the inspiration of the garden, Belgian linen, English oak and crumbling terracotta will feature heavily alongside some beautiful vintage items.
Enclosing the courtyard space will be a screen of pleached trees and planting, helping to block out the hustle and bustle of Chelsea. The rest of the screening works as a frame for the Alitex greenhouses. Supplying the trees are Agrumi, experts in top quality plants, screening and bespoke topiary.
Agrumi Director, Stanley Jackson is looking forward to the event: "It is a great honour to be working with and supplying plants for Alitex's trade stand at Chelsea. We hope you enjoy the display and look forward to hearing from you about future gardening projects that we can help with. Alternatively, visitors are always welcome at our beautiful nursery near Lymington."
We will be exhibiting our Scotney and Ickworth greenhouses from the National Trust Greenhouse Collection. The Scotney is the second smallest in the collection, offering the ideal growing environment for keen gardeners with limited space. Whilst the Ickworth is the largest in the collection, designed in a unique cruciform shape boasting a spacious interior, perfect for growing and entertaining. Both greenhouses are practical, durable and low-maintenance, with all the timeless aesthetic qualities of an original heritage structure.
Styling the greenhouses will be internationally renowned interior designers, Sims Hilditch. This year's theme will celebrate outdoor living, with beautiful furniture upholstered in heritage fabrics and al fresco relaxing and dining options. The stand will inspire your own home and garden, simply by bringing the outside in.
