The Fridlington’s knew exactly what they wanted from their conservatory; light and space. As a beautiful addition to their kitchen space, the Alitex aluminium conservatory replaced a small bay window which looked out over the garden.
However the window did not let in enough light and the Fridlington’s wanted to bring more brightness into the heart of their home. They then envisaged spending much more time in it and concluded that any investment could prove to be a future selling point.
Mr Fridlington researched the conservatory market thoroughly and spoke to a number of different manufacturers, confident that he knew exactly what he wanted and just needed a company that could listen and understand his requests. He had concluded that a standard, off-the-peg product would not be suitable and that he needed to look at a high quality tailor-made product. Eventually he was led to Alitex by a conservatory article he read in The Telegraph and it is fair to say, struck up a good relationship immediately, he felt that he had found a company with whom to work on his “non-standard”, product.
After an initial meeting, Alitex’s Design Office came back with sketches of the structure and after a few minor changes, such as incorporating more glass and less aluminium, the conservatory’s design was agreed upon. A local builder was instructed to complete the ground works which allowed Alan and Ben (from the Alitex Team) to move onsite and assemble the conservatory. Mr Fridlington commented “It was amazing how quickly the conservatory went up, there were no problems and any little snags were managed easily with a minimum of fuss.”
Flooring is now in place with heating provided by an electric under-floor matt. Lighting has been a big consideration, the Fridlington’s were keen to get it right and to maximise the beauty of the conservatory. This consideration has gone beyond and into the garden now, so that darker evenings can be enjoyed from the conservatory gazing out at well lit shrubs and plantings, providing a very pleasant restful place to sit; there is no thought of blinds at the moment as the Fridlington’s enjoy the view day and night. The solar glass fitted and electric vents regulate heat and ventilation and make it very comfortable, with no concerns about excessive heat.
“It has improved the house no end – we live in here,” says Mr Fridlington “we really like it. It is a tribute to Alitex – I knew what I wanted and I got it; a perfect blend of two spaces. Alitex were able to make our ideas a reality and there has been a great working relationship. We have had good communications throughout the project and really appreciated the personalised service.”
