An Evening at Alitex with Alan Titchmarsh and Mary Berry

Alan Titchmarsh and Mary Berry
On Thursday 5 September we were delighted to host over 200 guests at our show site, Torberry Farm, for our Annual Lecture with guest speakers Alan Titchmarsh and Mary Berry. This year we were lucky enough to have the national treasures, both proud owners of an Alitex greenhouse, each share tales of their lives and friendship. The lecture is always one of the highlights of our year and it is the perfect way to draw a summer of fantastic events to a close.

When the day of the lecture arrives it is all go at our offices with our team working hard to make sure everything from the place settings for dinner to the stage in the marquee look perfect for our guests. It is always exciting to see the event taking shape, and the anticipation builds further throughout the day as the garden is dressed and the caterers arrive.

We were incredibly lucky to have the perfect weather on Thursday, so that our guests arrived in amazing September sunshine and could enjoy a drink by the greenhouses as the sun went down. This event is always a great opportunity to see our customers whom we haven’t seen for a while, to catch up with them and hear about their greenhouses. It is also wonderful to see our guests meet and mingle with one another, all likeminded people sharing their passion for gardening and the outdoors.

Following the canapés, our guests were guided by a candle lit path to the marquee where they gathered to hear Mary and Alan. The evening was made extra special by the intimate nature of the event. Mary and Alan sat next to each other on stage and delighted our guests with tales of their childhood, careers, families and the highs and lows of life in television. The laid back format of the evening was wonderful and our audience were able to get involved with questions for Alan and Mary. They answered queries on certain problems guests were having in their garden, on their life experiences and even the odd baking question. It was a wonderful evening for all.

We've had some wonderful feedback from our guests:

"Alan Titchmarsh and Mary Berry worked their own unique brands of magic flawlessly.  What seasoned professionals they are, with interesting tales and insights from their respective careers, shared with passion and warmth. It was an hour of pure wholesome entertainment and we loved it."

This event would not have been possible without all the fantastic companies and people that helped put it together.
