Introducing... Mark Diacono, the speaker of our annual lecture 2017. Mark is an award winning food writer, grower and photographer. Mark also runs Otter Farm, the UK's only climate change farm, growing fruit and vegetables that traditionally only flourished in warmer conditions. From planting and maintaining the farm's vineyards, to the forest garden and vegetable patch, he also led the Garden Team at Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's River Cottage.
Mark will be taking us on a whistle-stop tour of the inspirations behind Otter Farm's new kitchen garden, from design to completion. During his talk, he will explore his visits to fascinating edible gardens and introduce us to an exotic choice of plants such as Japanese sansho pepper, blue honeysuckle, Himalayan rhubarb, Asian pears, Korean mint and much, much more.
Mark will be our blogger in residence this summer, introducing the theme of the kitchen garden at Otter Farm. In July Mark will be introducing four herbs from the garden, August will focus on four cocktail recipes and in September we will be in the kitchen with four delicious recipes harvested from the kitchen garden.
If you'd like to listen and learn from Mark, please do join us on the 14th September, tickets cost £10 each. There will be drinks in our garden at 7:15pm followed by the lecture at 8pm. The event will be held at our home on Torberry Farm, South Harting, Hampshire GU31 5RG.
The lecture is always a sell-out so tickets must be purchased prior to the day. If you're local to us, you are welcome to pop in Monday - Friday. You can pay by cash, cheque or card, but please note there is a £2.50 bank charge on card payments.
