The freestanding, traditional Alitex greenhouse that can be found at RHS Wisley, is approachable by a steep set of stairs that wends its way through rockeries and trailing plants. Jim had specific requirements that our design team worked into the final design; a special width door which replicated the old timber door exactly was needed in order to keep the traditional charm. We also added manual working roof vents, as the existing rack and pinion operated by chain wheels, worked well for this type of greenhouse.

The effort is rewarded by a beautiful display of alpine plants in the Alitex greenhouse. Cara Smith, leader of the Alpine House team, said: “We reserve the very best plants at the height of their fabulousness for the Alitex greenhouse.”

“We are delighted to be working with Alitex. The partnership is so much more than a stamp of approval. It is a deep rooted relationship that will grow and develop over the years.”
