Last Autumn The Alitex Peloton was born… A group of 15 intrepid souls at Alitex signed up to the Tour de Force 2014. The Tour de Force is a charity ride which follows the same route as the Tour de France but seven days ahead.
Stages 4 and 5 will take us from Ypres to Reims over two days; a delightful 217 miles! We will be cycling to raise funds and awareness for the William Wates Memorial Trust. Each charity that they support is personally vetted by the trustees to ensure that the money is being spent wisely and is making a real difference.
Most of the Peloton are made up of novice cyclists, some who have not cycled since their teenage years, some are just out of their teenage years and some are doing this to celebrate reaching 60 years! It is by no means going to be easy and the dedication the team has put in to training for the challenge and also fundraising has been impressive. Indeed the whole company has got on board and is helping with the fundraising.
I am hugely proud of their achievements so far, but we do need support with our fundraising. We have a target of £15,000 to raise by July and are well on our way with just over £8,000 at the time of writing, but there is still quite a way to go. If you could see your way to sponsor the team for as little or as much as you can manage it would make all the difference to the team. All funds raised go straight to the charity; the riders and Alitex have paid for the cost of taking part so you’re not paying for the team to go on a jolly!
The team and I would be hugely grateful if you could give anything to help the cause – knowing that we have achieved our target will make every hour of training seem entirely worthwhile.
