 Fitted Heating Systems

Fitted heating systems

There will be times in larger greenhouses when you need a comprehensive ‘wet’ boiler run heating system. We do not undertake this work our selves, but have a sister company who are experts in this type of installation. Please contact them to discuss your heating requirements. Ornamental Floor Grids

Ornamental floor grids

Originally used by the Victorians as floor grills to house heating pipes, they are still an essential method of housing your hot water heating system, but can also be used as a decorative floor finish when used alone. The cast iron grids are typically 3’ by 2’, and have a weathered finish that ages beautifully.

A great advantage is they are also non-slip, particularly when wet, so are a sensible flooring choice as well as being an attractive feature - even if you do not have heating pipes.

Edwards Greenhouse Heater

Edwards greenhouse heater

Designed with the grower in mind, this robust electric heater offers excellent thermal efficiency with a high capacity circulating fan. The unit provides either 1.0 kW, 1.8 kW or 2.8 kW of thermostatically controlled heat output. Available in Juniper Green (BS12 C40) only.

Dimensions: Length 410mm. Height 350mm. Diameter 230mm.

 The Lawsonian Greenhouse Sliding Vent

The Lawsonian greenhouse sliding Vent

This neat and effective Lawsonian greenhouse vent allows air to flow between the glasshouse and the adjacent ‘hot’ frames, which are relatively warm compared to conventional cold frames. This allows early salad crops to be started directly in the ‘hot’ frame.

The Fell external greenhouse shade

The Fell greenhouse shade is recommended to optimise heat and light level control within the glasshouse. Fitted externally, between the glasshouse ridge and gutter, the shade reduces light intensity and therefore plant scorch, and helps to keep temperatures down in the heat of summer. A spring-loaded aluminium roller keeps the shade under permanent tension and a pulley system enables the shade to be operated easily at ground level. The system also prevents the shade moving in the wind.

The commercial quality shading material is a polyolefin-based fabric, which is interwoven with thin aluminium strips to give 65% shading. Being reflective, it is an excellent heat deflector in summer.

Greenhouse Automatic Electrical Roof Vent

Greenhouse automatic electrical roof vent

Automatic electrical greenhouse ventilation with more precise control is required for specialist growing and large greenhouse structures.

This can be achieved by the inclusion of deeper vents and thermostatically controlled, electrically operated motors. For smaller growing houses you have a combination of manual side vents with roof vents, which are controlled by a passive vent opener to create a stable environment. Alitex fit these roof vents as standard, and they operate by opening and closing in response to the ambient temperature.

Gifford Greenhouse Light

Gifford greenhouse light

Designed in traditional style with a polyester powder coated reflector, the Gifford Light is an essential feature of a working greenhouse during the evenings and winter months. It is fitted with 1 metre of flex cord. Lights are supplied with a low energy 20 watt bulb and an IP rated in-line connector for safe use within the greenhouse environment.

Please note: wiring and connection to an electrical supply is not included.

The greenhouse is fantastic and we are thrilled with it. It looks as though it has always been there."
