At Alitex we have been making greenhouses since 1952, and we moved to our current site on the Hampshire/Sussex borders, near Petersfield in 2001.
Up until that time we were based in Alton, Hampshire and operated the business from two separate sites. We painted the greenhouses and ran the business from a small office on an industrial estate and we manufactured the greenhouses across town near the station, in a porta-cabin.
We searched for many years for the perfect place from which to run the whole business and create a show site. Finally, in the late 1990s we discovered our current location and have never looked back!
Torberry Farm overlooks the South Downs and enjoys an idyllic situation in the heart of the National Park. Now, thanks to the long awaited Hindhead tunnel, the journey down the A3 has eased considerably.
Alitex now do everything at Torberry Farm. We design, manufacture, build, paint and even trial-erect many of our glasshouses and conservatories prior to delivery.
We even have a landscaped show area with a bespoke greenhouse, a National Trust Mottisfont greenhouse and a conservatory so you can enjoy the complete glasshouse experience. Seeing how plants thrive, how well the ventilation works and even just sitting in the sunshine surrounded by greenery. We also encourage every visitor to spend some time in our design office and take a tour of our factory. In particular, the allotments are not to be missed!
