2013 will mark the 100th year of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and astonishingly Alitex will have been there for 50 of those years!
We now expect to see 157,000 visitors each year, enjoying what has become the most prestigious annual gardening showcase in the UK and an event that is recognised by both professional and amateur gardeners from around the globe.
As a result the show is taken very seriously by all exhibitors, whether they are show gardens, nurseries, or selling greenhouses! It is a year round exercise to make the stand look its very best, and make a big memorable impression for a few special days in May.
We are not allowed to win gold medals – that is the realm of the gardens and plants - but as a Sundries Exhibitor we can win Certificates of Merit. Each year there are a handful of Sundries Trophies awarded for stands of the highest quality, and we are thrilled to have won 7 in the last 10 years.
As soon as one show is over we start to plan for the next. Just getting the site ready for opening takes 3 weeks as all building work, hard landscaping, planting and of course building of greenhouses has to be done from scratch. Everyone arrives to a bare patch of ground so horticultural miracles really do take place.
You can always find us in our premier position on Main Avenue. That alone is the greatest motivation to make every detail perfect as we rub shoulders with the Show Gardens.
